1) You got hired right before the season last year. Talk about what was different this off-season with plenty of time to recruit?
- I had the opportunity to evaluate players throughout the spring and summer. I was able to identity prospects at various levels.
- Being able to recruit players to fit our playing style was key. We are headed in the right direction.
2) Talk about the recruits your brought in this season. Last year because of injuries, you finished the season with 6 players. How has this roster changed?
- The addition of transfer post Brinyia Rolax will add a much needed front court presence. She will provide shot blocking and rebounding.Â
- Transfer guard Maiya Petit will add to our perimeter backcourt. She will add defensive tenacity and leadership.Â
- Pay close attention to the following Fr. Samayia Morris and Nina Solomon.Â
3)
Esther Joseph was 1st Team All South- Region last season. She went from averaging 10 points a game to 19 points with your coaching. What was the difference in her play from the start to finish?
- Esther started the season off a bit slow but she developed all year due to our team and individual film sessions, structured skill development, our offensive and defensive philosophies and her tireless work ethic.
- Esther will continue to leave her mark on our women's basketball program. She has a chance a leave a legacy few will be able to follow.Â
4) Esther had a game last season we she had 40 points over 10 assists, 10 rebounds and 10 steals. Was that the most dominant performance a player of yours has ever had?
- As you are coaching the game you are not recognizing the individual performance that being accomplished by your own player. You are just thinking about winning the game. But clearly her individual performance was one of the most impressive I have ever seen on any level.Â
5)Â Your schedule this year is very competitive. You scrimmage and play a few Divison 1 teams and Divsion 2 team. What was the thought process in making this schedule?
- I want to create a culture where we compete against all levels of collegiate basketball, I want to create visibility for our institution. By doing so, we will only aid to the growth of our women's basketball program.
- We will always look to schedule tough opponents so we can challenge our players to perform at a high level and push through obstacles that we will face throughout the season.Â
- The goal is to play the best teams to prepare us for the conference tournament run.
The Eagles have the home opener on 11-1-2024 hosting Beacon College at the Scott Galvin Community Center. 5PM Eastern.
