Darence Pierre-Louis & UFTL Defense Dominate From Start To Finish

UFTL Safety
Box Score By Monte Perez
The University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles football team took an early lead and never looked back as they dominated Daytona Elite, 16-3

Darence Pierre-Louis caught a pass over the middle from DeRohn King on the opening drive to put the Eagles up 7-0.

Pierre-Louis was the ultimate dual threat, rushing for over 100 yards on the ground and over 50 receiving yards.

Offensive Coordinator Ivan McCartney said, "Darence has been patient, humble, and hard working. It was only a matter of time before he dominated. He played great for us."

King had 142 yards passing and 66 rushing yards.

Julius Finnerson had 8 carries for 64 yards as the Eagles' running game was very well balanced.

Jean Telfort has been the most consistent WR all year long. He caught 5 balls on Saturday.

Freshman Coden Brown had a rushing touchdown to put the Eagles up 14-3.

Coming into this contest, Daytona scored 76 points in its last two outings. The University of Fort Lauderdale defense played its best game of the season, giving up 3 points and only allowing 100 yards of total offense.

Coach Damon Cogdell said of his defense, "I thought we played well and substituted a lot of guys. We need to be more disciplined and build off this for next week's game."

1st Team All-South Regional defensive back Justice Johnson and the secondary did not let their WR's get any momentum all game long.
  • Freshman Dante DeSantis led the team in tackles with 9 tackles and 2 sacks on the day.
  • Jordan Nance, Donte Mason, and Jevon Brown had 4 tackles as well
  • Jason Brown had a fumble recovery, and Jacquez Hollaway had a "big-time" interception to help seal the win.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, October 18th, vs Crudup Legacy College
