The University of Fort Lauderdale Women's softball team finished the season winning 3 out of 4 as they head to the south regional playoffs.
The Eagles have a 25-22 record and are ranked #8 in the NCCAA going into post-season play.
CoachÂ
Billy Glessner shared his thoughts going into the south region:
"Our goal from the start of the season has always been to play in the world series. When our team is clicking on offense and defense, we are very hard to beat"
Catcher
Kaylee Pitman believes in her team:
"We know it is win or go home, but we believe we have the talent on the field to get to the World Series."
When asked about the pressure of playing in the tournament, (3b/1b)
Cameron Rollison responded:
"
Through our wins and our losses we learned to rely on one another, There really isn't a lot of pressure.
We know if one of us doesn't get a hit, the next batter is more than capable. We believe in each other to pick us up andÂ
have the next woman up mentality."
The Eagles defense has been one of the best in the business, all year long.
- Rollison and Jaycee Bisbee cover 3rd base.
- "Sure handed"Â Katie Adkins and Hannah Hogan make up short stop and second base.
- Rollison and Makenzie Heaton cover first.
- "Rocket arm", Pitman, does an amazing job of calling the game behind home plate and throwing runners out.Â
- Alexia Geary is 15-8 on the season.
- Celily Ozbun has 40 strike outs and has only given up 18 walks.
- Alyssa Dragovich leads the team with a .358 batting average and Allisia Vega has 18 stolen bases which leads the softball squad.Â
- Heaton and Geary lead the No.8th ranked Eagles with 28 and 22 RBI.Â
Good luck to our Softball team!
