Softball's Magical Season Comes To An End

The University of Fort Lauderdale's softball team lost to Jessup in the Final Four of the World Series to end their season. Jessup went on to win the National Championship. 

Its been a heck of a run for the Eagles. They won back to back South Regional Championships in 2024-2025 and compiled a record of 38-19 this season. That is the most wins the softball team has ever had. 

Coach Billy Glessner won South Regional Coach of the Year and Alexia Geary was named player of the year.

Alyssa Dragovich, Hannah Hogan and Katie Adkins all won South Regional Honors. 

Coach Glessner said,"I can't tell you how proud I am of this team. 3 years ago we were 14-31 and now we have back to back south regional titles. All the credit in the world goes to these athletes."
  • Geary's pitching record was the stuff legends are made of. 34 wins... 45 complete games, 227 strikeouts, 15 shutouts and 1.59 earned run average. She also led the team with a .333 batting average, 6 home runs and 39 RBI's.
  • Adkins batted .330 and had one of the best defensive seasons we have ever scene.
  • Hogan batted .269 and was stellar defensively all season long.
  • Dragovich batted .314 and had 32 RBI's.

Everyone on this roster contributed one way or another. 
  • Makenzi Heaton had 2 HR's and 21 RBI's
  • Kaityln Nieves led the team in bunts
  • Jacey Bisbee had a tremendous season playing 3rd base.
  • Cameron Rollison had 15 RBI's. 
  • Kaylee Wilt batted .297 in her first season.  
  • Neomi Thomas batted .270 and had the game winning hit in the south regional championship. 
  • Cheyenne Southers led the team in stolen bases 
  • Kaylee Pitman led the NCCAA in throwing out runners who tried to steal and made ESPN's top 10 plays by making a diving catch at the World Series. 
  • Cheyenne Bosh batting .288.

This team and several players will one day be in the UFTL Sports Hall of Fame. Their contributions and success will never be forgotten.
