Game Recap: Baseball | | Monte Perez

WILBERT JAVIER-VARGAS HELPS UFTL BASEBALL TAKE 3 OUT OF 4 FROM THE NEW COLLEGE OF FLA.

Senior Wilbert Javier-Vargas helped the University of Fort Lauderdale Men's Baseball Team, take 3 out of 4, on the Road vs The New College of Florida. 


Game 1:
  • Payton Casey pitched 6.1 innings, giving up only 2 runs and  6 hits, while striking out 7 batters in the 8-2 win. 
  • Javier-Vargas went 2-4 with a home run, double, 2 RBI's and a run scored. 
  • Brady Jackson had 2 walks, 1 home run, 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored. 
Game 2:
  • UFTL lost 4-3 in extra innings.
  • Third Baseman, Chris Martin, had 2 hits and a walk in loss.
Game 3:
New College of Florida scored 5 runs in the bottom of 7th inning to tie the game.  UFTL scored 4 in the top of the 9th, to seal the extra inning victory,18-14.

This was a crazy game, where the bats were out in full force.
  • Javier-Vargas had 3 hits, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.
  • Jordan Lewis had 3 hits in 4 at bats. Drove in 2 and scored 2 runs. 
  • Chris Martin (Mr. 400 batting average) Had 3 hits in 4 at bats and 1 base on balls. 
  • The South Regional Player of the Year Erik Scott was on fire!  He had 3 hits, 4 runs, 3 RBI's and 3 runs scored. 
  • Colby Small, Javier-Vargas, Lewis, Scott and Brady O'Lone all had HR''s as UFTL scored 18 runs.

Game 4:

The Eagles closed out the series by dominated New College of Florida, 12-4. UFTL scored 4 runs in the 5th inning, 5 runs in the sixth and 3 runs in the 7th.
  • Once again Javier-Vargas led the way, going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's, 3 runs scored and a home run. 
  • Jordan Lewis had another home run while driving in 3 runs as well.
  • Second baseman, Rolando Lujo went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.
  • Senior Ryan Rifenberg had 2 RBI's on the day. 
  • Brady Jackson had 4 walks and a run scored. 
  • Sameul Tejada pitched 4 innings and struck out 8 in the win.

The Eagles are now 7-3 on the year and are ranked No.1 in almost every offense category in The NCCAA.
