UFTL ATHLETICS: A PLACE WHERE WINNING HAPPENS

UFTL Men's Baseball At the College World Series
By Monte Perez

The UFTL Athletic program is relatively new to the NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association), but that doesn't mean
that the Eagles are not building something special in South Florida.

In just 3 years, the Baseball Team has won a south regional championship and has competed in 3 straight World Series. In 2024 the Team finished ranked #7 In the NCCAA.

Junior, Erik Scott, won South Region Player of the Year and was 1st team All-American. Scott, Chris Martin and Wilbert-Javier Vargas
should be key factors in helping the baseball team compete for a title.

In their second year of existence, the softball team won the South Regional Championship.

They were one out away from competing in the College World Series Finals, before losing in extra innings.

They Finished ranked #9 in the NCCAA.

Alexia Geary (Pitcher) and Alyssa Dragovich (Outfield) were 1st team All-South Region. The team is in good shape with both of these individuals returning.

Under Coach Venisha Lee, UFTL Won the 2024 Flag Football National Championship. It is the 1st time that  UFTL has won a National Championship in any sport.

Despite being short handed, the Basketball Team finished the 2023-24 campaign with a 14-11 record and qualified for the South Regional Playoffs.

On November 6th, 2023 The Eagles were on ESPN and faced off against Troy University.

Freshman Chris Berry and Vugar Kuliev developed nicely as the season went on and they should be a key component for next season's run.

Coach Anthony Anderson expects his team to get back to the Final Four like they did in the 2022-23 season.

The Women's Basketball team played the entire season with only 5 and sometimes 6 players.

Coach  Alberto Jemperrie helped his team win 3 of their last 5 games.

Esther Joseph was named to the 1st team All-South Region and should be a key piece over the next few years. .

The Football program finished the season winning 4 out of their last 5 games.

They were undefeated at home (4-0) for the 1st time in school history.

Defensive back Justice Johnson and Running back Hakeem Quran will help lead this team to their goals.

Tom Goodman has been hired to take over the soccer program, and UFTL Track is now being run by Wilbert Johnson,

Both coaches bring a plethora of experience and should find success quickly.

In just a few short year's of existence, all of our sports  programs are on the rise.
